Understand what China's nationality law means before you apply.
The key question
China does not recognise dual nationality. Under Article 9 of the Nationality Law, a Chinese national settled abroad who voluntarily acquires a foreign nationality automatically loses Chinese nationality. Before applying, take advice on your own position. We do not advise on concealing a second nationality.
Who Argentina suits
Chinese nationals already living abroad with foreign permanent residence, or families planning a deliberate change of nationality, for whom an Argentine passport offers strong mobility.
Practical points
- China joined the Hague Apostille Convention in November 2023, which simplifies document legalisation.
- Funds already held abroad with a documented history are easiest to use.
