What families ask us
Straight answers, including the uncomfortable ones.
Is the programme legitimate?
Yes. It is based on Article 2 bis of Argentina's Citizenship Law, inserted by Decree 366/2025, with procedure under Decree 524/2025, and was presented by the Economy Minister in October 2026. Its legal basis has been challenged in court, which you should know.
Why not a Caribbean passport? It is cheaper.
The EU has asked the five Caribbean programmes to close by June 2028 and can suspend their visa-free access; the UK has already imposed visas on Dominica and St Lucia. Argentina's passport rests on a G20 country.
Why not a Greek Golden Visa?
Greece gives you a residence permit, not a passport, and citizenship requires seven years of actually living there. It does not open the UK.
Is Argentina too unstable?
You do not need to hold any assets in Argentina. The contribution is in US dollars, and your citizenship does not depend on the economy.
Do I have to live in Argentina?
No.
Will I pay tax in Argentina?
Under the announced framework, citizenship acquired through the programme does not on its own make you tax resident in Argentina. Your home-country tax position continues.
Will I lose my current passport?
Argentina allows dual citizenship. Your own country's law decides; see our nationality guides.
Could Europe stop visa-free travel for Argentines?
The EU can suspend visa-free access for countries running citizenship by investment. Argentina's strict vetting makes this less likely, but it is not impossible.
Can I get a US visa more easily?
No. Argentines still need a US visa, and the E-2 investor visa requires three years of residence in Argentina for investor citizens.
How long will it take?
Applications are expected to open in Q4 2026. After APCI's recommendation, the decision is due within 30 business days; the full review time has not been published.
What about my children?
Children up to 25 can be included now, and your future children born abroad can claim Argentine citizenship.
What is the Spain route?
Spain allows Ibero-American nationals, including Argentines, to apply for Spanish citizenship after two years of legal residence instead of ten. You must actually live in Spain, and how Spain treats investor citizens is untested.
Do I need to speak Spanish?
No language test has been announced.
Is my information kept confidential?
Your file is shared with Argentine authorities as the process requires. We share nothing beyond what your application needs.
Can you guarantee approval?
No one can. Argentina decides after its own review. Our job is to make your file complete, accurate and convincing.
